What is RADO?

The Romanian Atmospheric 3D research Observatory–RADO is a distributed atmospheric research infrastructure based on the voluntary association of several research institutes and universities in Romania. Its main function is to perform experimental and theoretical research for atmospheric composition and air quality assessment, including impact on climate and climate variability. 

RADO's consortium

RADO is based on the collaboration between: National Institute of R&D for Optoelectronics, "Babes-Bolyai" University of Cluj-Napoca, "Al. I. Cuza" University of Iasi, "Politehnica" University of Timisoara, University of Bucharest, and National Administration for Meteorology.

RADO's components

RADO has three main components: the Observation Network, Data Centre and Science Centre. The first is a distributed network of five remote sensing facilities, loctaed in Bucharest-Magurele, Bucharest-Baneasa, Iasi,Cluj and Timisoara. The Data Center and the Science Center are hosted by the Remote Sensing department in INOE.
