ARSss - Atmospheric Remote Sensing summer school

The Atmospheric Remote Sensing summer school (ARSss) is organized by RADO as independent event or coupled with OTEM workshop. The summer school comprises training classes in the scientific modules introducing concepts, practice and caveats of the different instrumental techniques, algorithm concepts and the atmospheric processes. Special focus is on hands-on training using available instrumentation at RADO. Each summer school is complemented by courses and practice on complementary skills, e.g. presentation & communication, project management, ethics and IPR.

ARSss addresses Master and PhD students, as well as young scientists who perform research within the following topics:

  • Active remote sensing: atmospheric lidars (aerosols, wind, water vapor), radar (clouds, weather)
  • Passive remote sensing: microwave radiometry, sunphotometry, spectroscopy
  • Retrieval algorithms, data processing, data analysis
  • Synergy with in situ and models
