ASSESS (Atmospheric studies in support of ESA’s sentinel 4 and 5 products) is a ROSA-STAR project, ctr. 150/2017.

The main objective of this project is to develop scientific missions for atmospheric research for validation of the satellite products and to improve the ESA’s Sentinel 4, 5 and 5P data accuracy and long term stability of their related products by using a research platform which combines ground-based and airborne remote sensing facilities, capable of retrieving different atmospheric species in the context of the current and future EO mission concepts. The specific objectives of this project are: O1. Set-up a research platform for Cal/Val missions by combining ground-based and airborne facilities owned by the consortium O2. Defining appropriate procedures for using the research platform in atmospheric research missions; O3. Development of new technologies for Cal/Val missions in support of ESA’s Sentinel 4, 5 and 5P. The research platform will make use of a van and two airborne platforms to accommodate a configurable (application driven) set of instruments jointly operated by the three Romanian institutions involved in the project.
